One pair of shoes at a time.

Miss Swaziland 2nd Princess Baby Mthimkhulu
handing out shoes.
Last week Friday I was privileged to accompany Miss Swaziland 2nd Princess Baby Mthimkhulu to donate school shoes at kaShewula, Mbhandzamane Primary School in Swaziland. First of all I did not know her, nor was I familiar with her name. We got to know each other along the way, she is a beauty with a purpose.

I was so happy and touched to learn about Baby’s journey on how she thought of the idea, how she asked people to give her shoes and the future.

Miss Cultural Heritage Sindiswa Dlamini was
also there to give a hand.

I personally have never seen a school child go to school bare footed. It was my first time to witness this and it broke my heart profoundly. Since it was a rainy week and there was mud everywhere, some of these children walked kilometres in mud and water to attend school. Their feet were muddy when they arrived at school, they sat in class rooms with cement floors for close to 5 hours. It pains me right now as I type this to imagine this situation, to think thats what they go through on a daily basis. The floors are cold, they might be tired from the walk, they have to focus on their studies and worse, some of their friends have shoes.

On that day, I remember I gave a short motivational speech that if they want to achieve their dreams they should stay in school, learn, study and pass so that they will be able to go to university and achieve their dreams. Thanks to Baby Mthimkhulu a number of those children are not feeling the cold today, they have shoes on their feet and I hope their class marks improve as they now have 1 less thing to be worried about.
Thats me right there with these children. I love this.

Being a beauty with a purpose is not just a statement, it takes dedication, love, commitment, time and patience. You do not need to be a beauty queen to have a purpose in life; you need to have a purpose.

Amazingly this young lady is still collecting more school shoes to go back to the school as not all of them were able to receive due to sizes. She is something else.

Let us change other children’s situations with a pair of shoes. Second hand and brand new school shoes are most welcome. If you want to assist in this project please leave a comment here, or call 76143621. I thank you in advance.

She really did put a smile on those children. Seeing those happy smiles and that heartfelt, “thank-you” from one of the beneficiaries made me emotional that day.
