Celebrating our Swazi Woman: Athlete Phumlile Ndzinisa

Woman #2 on my top 2 Woman worth celebrating in Swaziland. I catch up with the fastest female in Swaziland,  Phumlile Ndzinisa. The 24 year old young Swaziland was representing Swaziland at the 2016 Olympics games in Brazil. Due to an injury she came 5th in the 2016 Olympics qualifiers. They are due back in the country on the 25th of August through King Mswati III International Airport.

This was during the Commonwealth
games.

Thank-you for allowing me the opportunity to celebrate you as a woman in the sports field.
:)

Tell me how you got to the 2016 Olympics.

Nothing was easy but I have been training for it. I started Athletics 2009 where I discovered  I can be better than what I was before. In 2010, Swaziland hosted zone 6 games where I won a bronze medal in 400m event. This is when I realised that maybe I can do better and win.

Have you always dreamed of the life you have now?
I never dreamed that I can be the person I am now but other people use to tell me that I can be the first woman in Swaziland to be fast coz I am talented. (and they were right!)

Swaziland is very small and not a lot of people live off sports. Now, you are a woman and the fastest woman in the country. Are you only an athlete or do you have another side job that sustains you?
I just finished my Massage Therapy course in Mauritius last month. I was in Mauritius on a training programme.

Phumlile sightseeing in Brazil.
How is the sports industry
in Swaziland?
There are lot of opportunities in Sports. For example, I got a scholarship to train outside the country and when I got there I got more opportunities that has helped build my future like the course I just finished. I do believe it is a viable industry as one get to get a better certificate.

How would you advice young girls who are looking up to you and would like to follow in your foot steps?
The first thing that is very important if you want to be come a better person is to respect yourself and don't look at what your friends are doing, you need to do what you want and what you dreamed of.
You need to also do what you love and enjoy it.  You must be happy with what you are doing once you do that, everything well be on your way that is good.

What is your career plan from now on?
She sustained an injury during the 2016 Olympic
race. The challenges she comes cross.
I will continue with my sport until I get a job. I won't stop being at athlete because I see that success is near.  I am also looking forward to 2018 commonwealth games.

How do you stay motivated?
From meeting other female athletes I can see brightness in front of my eyes as other athletes are making it big and they do not put age in their minds, they just focus.
To be a better sports person is not easy at all. There are so many challenges one comes across, so one needs to be focused with what they are doing. Some of these challenges are easier to handle and some are harder to handle but by believing in yourself will keep trying your best with every challenge you face.

I am truly inspired by this young lady. She has inspired me to be better at everything I do and that challenges are there in life but with focus I can conquer them.  I wish her all the best in her career and happy belated birthday! (21 Aug).
